Summer Slow Down Challenge

Most times we take things for granted, where we live, time, even friends and family. It's not until we stop and slow down for a bit, do we truly experience the things that mean the most to us!As a mom of two, having multiple businesses, a busy writing life, passions that seem to take on a career of their own, and not to mention the continuous mile long to do list. It's hard to stop and slow down, put the list aside, squeeze in long-lost friends, add new ones, take care of a house, garden, and keep a family completely happy. This week I made myself just slow down and enjoy everything around me. I cut back on a few responsibilities, added in some lunch and dinner dates with friends. I took an early morning run on the beach, sat watching the ocean, listened to the waves, rekindled an old hobby, listened to my heart, nurtured my soul, and reflected on the past year and how dramatically it has changed in such a short time.My sweet little boy turns 1 today, and it made me realized how quickly time really does fly and if you're not watching it will blow right by you. Life can pass you by, leaving you longing for a free spirit and easier days, and a determined heart. It's crazy how different life can be from day-to-day. You actually have to tell yourself to stop and realize all it has to offer. We're so busy all the time we miss the best things in life.A week of slowing down has made me feel like a kid again. I've re-kindled a lost spirit that has been buried deep down hidden in work and responsibility. I have new inspiration and a happy little face to remind me to stop and appreciate time, love, life, and friendship. I've finally recognized the to do list will always be there and the perfect sunrise with a cool ocean breeze may not be.The moral of the story... slow down, feel the salt air on your skin, take in all the sweet giggles and kisses you can stand because before you know it those days will be long gone and we'll be longing for them back again. So, I challenge you to have a "summer slow down." Whether it's once a week or a couple of times a month. It can be as simple as waking up early to see the sun rise to getting a pedicure or it could be determination to stir up old passions or as big as chasing a dream. Comment and let me know what you did for your summer slow down challenge! We could all use some inspiration and ideas!
