S'mores for Big Kids!

Holy Moly! S'mores for big kids!! You're going to want to run out to the
store to get all these ingredients asap! I am so obsessed, we planned for more
this weekend and last night! ;)

We all know growing up and if you have little ones, just saying the word
s'mores makes them go crazy. Living close to the beach is something we're
grateful for but summers are so busy with businesses and lots of people on the
beaches that we rarely get out to the beach until after Labor day. We usually
make up for lost time in the fall!

Last weekend we had an amazing 78 degree, all sunshine and no wind day.
After hours at the pool with the kids, I told my husband I great idea for a new
recipe for s'mores and he kinds laughed. So he started up our little chiminea
and I gathered up all my goodies. (Side note: you may need to prep for your
drunken berries a day or 2 early to let them soak. I had mine soaking for 2
weeks preparing for this night!)

Here's everything you need:

All the goodies:

  • A good bar of dark chocolate
  • handful of chopped hazelnuts
  • berries soaked in bourbon- I used blueberries and mine soaked for a while
  • marshmallows -you can get better quality or gourmet ones in health food stores
  • Graham Crackers-gluten free are out there if you prefer
  • bourbon- I used Basil Hayden's
  • metal or bamboo skewers
  • everything to start a fire pit or bonfire-wood, lighter, etc.

Directions:

  1. Soak Your berries ahead of time if possible. If you don't have days try to give yourself a couple hours.
  2. Light your bonfire, chiminea, fire pit, even a grill will work.
  3. On a serving tray place your graham crackers, nuts, drunken berries, chocolate, marshmallows and extra glasses for more bourbon of course! ;)
  4. Place marshmallows on the skewers and toast them to your liking.
  5. On a plate place your graham cracker on the bottom, add your toasted marshmallow, stack on the chocolate, drunken berries and top with chopped hazelnuts. Place another graham cracker on top.
  6. Now you have the best dessert in town. Dig in and enjoy!
  7. Oh don't forget to pour yourself a little sip of bourbon in those extra glasses!

S'more for Big Kids make the perfect dish to bring to your Labor Day parties, hang outs and get togethers. I promise you'll be the favorite guest at everything you show up to with these beauties! Hope you love them as much as we do! Enjoy them through the fall and change up your fruits!!
