Up Your Skin Game!
Up Your Skin Game! How do you feel about the health of your skin? Do you have a love/hate relationship with your skin? Did you know that your skin is your largest organ! It absorbs everything! From the products you put on it to pollution, the suns rays, toxins, parabens and even all the good stuff like water and Vitamin D. For me it's the most frustrating thing!Every day is different, wake up and look in the mirror and feel hydrated and refreshed. The next day it's dry or inflamed, dark circles or another fine line showing up. As we age our skin is continually changing and it's hard to keep up with all the creams and products, the treatments, peels, hair removal, which make up should we be using, how do we know what's safe, what's healthy and what works, should we be doing something else to see the results we're looking for??Shew! It's exhausting and I can tell you myself that it is the most frustrating thing for me! I'll be 43 in a couple months and I can tell you between normal aging, having 3 children, always sleep deprived, busy and higher stressed lifestyle with young kids and businesses, my self care goes to the bottom of the list. But looking into a mirror everyday, all day long, you start to notice the things that weren't there in your 30's or 20's.So I have been making skin care a major priority. I've been really researching and finding experts in the field. Figuring out what else I can really do to slow the aging process. (Also because I have a connective tissue disease which breaks down the collagen faster in my body than it does a normal person's.)The universe brought Danny Neifert with Skin Harmonics into my life! She is amazing and an expert in her field! I can't wait for you guys to hear her next week on the Inspire & Thrive Podcast. She breaks down all the skin myths and you'll find out the industry has been telling us all the wrong things! ALL WRONG! I was shocked myself! So make sure to tune in next Wednesday so you can listen! So here are some things you can do now to really work on to boost your routine and skin health for clean hydrated skin from the inside and outside!
ADD THESE THINGS:
- Omegas- Add in foods like fatty fish, salmon is a great choice! Walnuts and avocados are also high in omegas you can add to salads or breakfast foods.
- Water- We all know what water can do for our skin but are you really drinking enough for your body weight? Shoot for at least 8 glasses or more a day. Or use hydrating fruits like watermelon and berries as your snacks.
- Vitamin C- This is a major vitamin we need not only for our skin but also for our bodies to stay healthy. Citrus, strawberries and peppers are a perfect source of Vitamin C.
- Antioxidants- You can find antioxidants in things like grapes, green tea, kale, beets, pumpkin and spices.
- Hyaluronic Acid-Bone broths are great for sipping and sweet potatoes help boost your body's production also.
- Vitamin E- Found in loads of fruits and veggies like sweet potatoes, spinach, greens, almonds, and sunflower seeds
- GLA- This is a hydrating fatty acid found in eggs, oats and Spirulina.
Got ya thinking a little about how you can change the look and appearance of your skin. These are a couple of ways to work on the inside!
