How do you feel about breakfast? It's a love/hate relationship right? Here is your guide to breakfast and eating well!

  1. So many times during my nutrition counseling sessions, my clients tell me they skip breakfast. Honestly about 80% say either I just drink coffee or I wait till lunch to eat. We've all heard that "Breakfast is the most important meal of the day." And it's totally true! Here's why and here is what you can eat instead of reaching for the box of cereal!
  2. Skipping meals also leads to weight gain. The body goes into starvation mode when you skip meals, it could be healthy or not. Because it's not being fueled when it normally should. The body will store the food for energy as fat because it’s not sure when it will be refueled again. So again you can eat an apple or a candy bar and the body holds on it just in case it won’t receive more food for a while.

Skipping the Cereal Box

  • Farm fresh egg on toast with sprouts,fresh vegetables
  • Plain yogurt with local honey andfresh fruit
  • Steel cut oats and fresh fruit andpure maple syrup
  • Loaded sweet potato with nuts andhemp seeds with some maple syrup
  • Avocado smash toast
  • Gluten-free pancakes or wafflesfresh berry compote
  • Farro grain bowl with sauted localveggies
  • Buddha bowl with quinoa, grilledsummer vegetables, toasted sesame oil

Farm Egg, Avocado & Garden Goodies Recipe!

Ingredients:

  • 1 fresh egg-local and pasture raisedis going to taste so much better and have lots more nutrients
  • ½ Avocado
  • 2 small radish
  • ¼ cup of sprouts- I used Broccolisprouts
  • 1 Tbsp hemp seeds
  • Salt and pepper

Directions:

  1. Cook the egg to your liking. I poached mine in the picture
  2. Slice the avocado
  3. Slice Radish thinly
  4. Place egg and avocado on a dish. Top with sprouts and hemp seeds
  5. Pinch of salt and pepper
